Freeman, Charles –

Husband of Mrs. Freeman, of 15, Ralph Street, Brownlow Fold, Bolton, Lancashire. In hospital in London in December 1917 with trench feet and shrapnel in the right lef. Caught aged 42 as an absentee from Randlestown, Ireland since 13/05/1918 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 17/05/1918 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/29). Badly wounded in the left leg by an explosive bullet and hospitalised at the Queen May’s Hospital, Whalley in September 1918.

Formerly 2971, 1st/8th Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers. Service number recorded as 305799 on CWGC. Worked for Salford Corporation Tramways Department.
