Caught aged 42 as an absentee from Randlestown, Ireland since 13/05/1918 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 17/05/1918 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/29). Badly wounded in the left leg by an explosive bullet and hospitalised at the Queen May’s Hospital, Whalley in September 1918.
