Ball, John Thomas –

Son of Edwin and Hannah Ball, of Leigh, Lancashire; husband of Mary Ann Ball, of 13, Hesketh Street, Firs Lane, Leigh, Lancashire.

Ballard, Alfred –

Son of Edward and Susannah Ballard, of 11, Boundary Street, Bolton, Lancashire. A reservist who had previously served eight years in the Army and four on the reserve, with much time in India and Egypt. A postman in Bolton before his war service, and a member of St. George’s Road Congregational Church.

Bamber, John –

Of 2, Prescot Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted June 1915.

Bancroft, Walter James –

Of 35, Livingstone Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Surrendered aged 27 as a deserter from Barrow since 03/10/1914 and appeated before Bolton Magistrates 13/10/1914 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/25).

Banks, Robert –

Son of Elizabeth Davies (formerly Banks, nee Ashurst), of 13, Entwistle Buildings, Bolton Road, Kearsley, Lancashire, and the late Jonathan Banks; husband of Jane Banks (nee Harrison), of 14, Hodgkiss Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly 2nd Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers. Reported as wounded and captured prisoner of war since 02/12/1917. Repatriated 03/12/1918.

Son of Martha Barber, of 67, Lower Broughton Road, Lower Broughton, Lancashire, and the late John Barber.

Barber, Harold –

Son of Ernest Barber; husband of Martha Barber, of 18, Chapel Street, Leigh.

Bardsley, Jack –

Son of George Edward and the late Sarah Bardsley, of 91, Grasmere Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Served in the South African Campaign. Wounded and at time of brother Harry’s death was in the convalescent home at Heaton Park.
