Son of Richard Armistead Dolan, of 29, Bentinck Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire, and the late Sarah Ellen Dolan (nee Grimshaw); stepson of Mary Jane Dolan (formerly Flitcroft). Formerly employed as a shoemaker at Stockport. Enlisted September 1914.

Of 86, Turton Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1915. Caught aged 27 as an absentee from Lytham since 15/01/1916 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 20/01/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).
