Garnett, Walter –

Son of George and Margaret Garnett, of 15, Kildare Street, Farnworth, Lancashire, and formerly of 34, Mather Street, Kearsley, Lancashire; husband of Mary Garnett, of 28, St. John Street, Kearsley, Farnworth, Bolton. Wounded by a bullet in the right arm April 1917. Memorial in Farnworth (St. James) Churchyard.

Garrity, Philip –

Son of Sergeant John Garrity, of 11, Markland Square, Farnworth, Lancashire. Wounded at Loos. St. Gregory’s R.C. Church, Farnworth.

Garside, Joseph Henry –

Son of Mrs. Garside, of 18, Abraham Street, Bolton, Lancashire. His time expired in May 1916, and he re-enlisted.

Garstang, Alfred –

Of 20, Nebo Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 17 as an absentee from Weeton since 24/07/1915, and from Blackpool since 24/11/1915. Appeared before Bolton Magistrates 29/07/1915 and 06/12/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).

Garstang, Alfred –

Son of Lance Corporal Walter Garstang and Mrs. Garstang, of 124, Cannon Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 247, Derby Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Had been seriously wounded with gunshot wounds to head and legs, and died at No.22 General Hospital.

Son of Collins Garstang and Naomi Garstang, of 287, New Hall Lane, Preston, Lancashire.

Garvey, Joseph –

Of 153, Bridgewater Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted June 1915. St. Gregory’s R.C. Church, Farnworth.

Garwood, Daniel –

Son of John Garwood, of 73, Keighley Road, Skipton, Yorkshire, and the late Margaret Garwood; husband of Mrs Mary Garwood, of 14, Milton Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously worked for the Co-Operative Society in the boot department. Formerly Private 1599, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded on 26/10/1917 and lost his right leg.

Gaskell, George Edward –

Son of Edward and Margaret Alice Gaskell, of 82, Carlton Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. An old boy of the Hollands School. Taken prisoner 10/04/1918 and died of exhaustion 22/09/1918.

Gaskell, Henry –

Of 59, Noble Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Father and three sons all served.

Gaskell, Joseph –

Formerly Private 7406, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded (shell shock) August 1916 whilst attached 1st/4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.
