Of 78, John Brown Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted May 1915. Reported missing since 09/04/1918 and subsequently confirmed prisoner of war at Limburg, Germany.

Gould, Silas –

Son of Joshua and Elizabeth Ellen Gould, of 175, Harrowby Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Attached 177th Tunnelling Company, Royal Engineers. Died at 3rd Canadian Field Hospital. Brother Stanley served in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Gradwell, Alfred –

Son of Robert and Esther Gradwell; husband of Nancy Gradwell (nee Hough), of 14, Hobson Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 12, Back Hobson Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted 09/09/1914 as Gunner 37578 in 101st Brigade., Royal Field Artillery and discharged 21/11/1914. Re-enlisted 09/02/1915, Guardsman 22933, 4th Bn., Grenadier Guards and discharged 28/07/1915. Both discharges as not likely to make an efficient soldier. Re-enlisted August 1915 in Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Gradwell, Arthur –

Son of Mrs. Gradwell, of 32, Hind Street, Tonge Fold, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1914. Wounded in the head.

Graham, John Henry –

Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Graham, of 6, Hill Street, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Mrs. Graham, of 112, Oxford Grove, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted February 1915. Wounded at Gallipoli, and later by gunshot in the abdomen 24/04/1917 in Mesopotamia.

Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Graham, of 6, Hill Street, Bolton, Lancashire. One of three sons lost.

Of 4, Michael Road, Whitehaven, Cumberland. Wounded by gunshot in the forehead, August 1915.

Grailey, Thomas –

Husbandof Sarah Ann Grailey, of 14, Derbyshire Row, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 4238, 3rd Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment; formerly 4th Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers. Caught multiple times as a deserter / absentee appearing before Bolton Magistrates to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/25 & JBO/1/26).

Grant, Charles Henry –

Of 75, Partridge Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Wounded by shrapnel in the upper left arm November 1916. Two brothers serving in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Grass, Alfred –

Of 5, Gleave Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 22 as a deserter from Tidworth Barracks since 21/09/1914 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 24/09/1914 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/25).
