Hill, Alfred –

Of 5, Acton Street, Wigan, Lancashire. Formerly Private 1632, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded by accidental gunshot in the leg in June 1915.

Hill, William –

Son of Isaac and Mary Hill, of Bolton, Lancashire. Died as a result of a cerebral abcess. Recorded as 42nd (Provisional) Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, on SDGW. Home service only.

Hill, Zechariah –

Son of Stephen and Mary Alice Hill, of Darcy Lever, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Sarah Hill (nee Sharples), of 23, Hill Top, Little Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Wounded in the thigh at Vimy Ridge 24/05/1916. Reported missing 26/10/1917 and subsequently presumed dead. Reported as S Hill in F&WJ.

Hilliard, James Rowland –

Son of James and Margaret Alice Hilliard, of 66, Somerset Road, Smithills, Bolton, Lancashire. Wounded by gunshot on 12/04/1918 and hospitalised at the Whitworth Street Military Hospital, Manchester.

Hilton, Frank –

Son of Samuel Theodore and Margaret Alice Hilton (nee Pemberton), of Tyldesley, Lancashire; husband of Hannah Hilton (nee Whittaker), of 114, Shuttle Street, Tyldesley, Lancashire. Formerly Private 1670, 4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded 09/08/1916. Wounded in the left forearm in late 1918 resulting in permanent damage to the ligaments and tendons of his ring and little finger. Later emigrated to Ontario, Canada.

Hilton, George William –

Son of John and Mary Ellen Hilton, of 4, Spring Gardens, Whittle-le-Woods, Chorley, Lancashire. Service number incorrectly recorded as 24326 on SDGW.

Hilton, Harry –

Son of Mr. John Hilton, of the Spread Eagle Hotel, Eagley, Turton, Lancashire. Invalided home to the Hope Military Hospital, Pendleton, due to enteric fever.
