Kelly, John –

Son of Private Thomas Kelly, of 2nd/5th Bn., King’s Liverpool Regiment, and Mary Alice Kelly, of 88, Mason Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 55, Noble Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Reported missing since the battle of Loos and subsequently presumed killed. His brother Thomas of the King’s Own Scottish Borderers was a survivor of the Royal Edward.

Formerly employed as a stoker by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company. Enlisted May 1915. Attached 1st/4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment at death. Surname sometimes recorded as KELLEY.

Kember, Reginald Prentice (Prentis) –

One of four soldier sons of William Herbert and Clara Kember, of 80, Mornington Road, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of Lyme Cottage, Picton Street, Smithills, Bolton, Lancashire; husbnand of Annie Kember, of 333, Dresden Road, Mount Royal, Quebec, Canada. Formerly Sergeant 136, Montreal Cyclists’ Corps, Canadian Imperial Forces, having previously served as a Sergeant in the 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Commissioned 10/09/1915. Appointed temporary Lieutenant. Appointed temporary Captain (July 1916). Promoted Acting Captain whilst commanding a company August 1917.
