Of 29, Craddock Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted May 1915. Formerly 3rd/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Caught multiple times as a deserter / absentee and appeared before Bolton Magistrates to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).

Brother of William Lord, of 28, Lower Market Street, Farnworth, Lancashire; husband of Mrs. Lord, of 10, Hodgkiss Street, Farnworth, Lancashire, and formerly of 84, King Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Served 12 years in the Lancashire Fusiliers, including service in Sudan and South Africa. Re-enlisted August 1914. Missing since the fight at La Bassee in December and subsequently presumed killed.
