Mee, Edward –

Son of Walter W. C. and Frances E. Mee, of 27, Henry Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted September 1914. Formerly employed as a clerk in the Tramways Office. Reported missing since 21/05/1916, and subsequently presumed killed.

Meek, George –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Meek, of 9, Taylor Avenue, Edge-Side, Waterfoot, Lancashire. Surname recorded as MEEKS on CWGC.

Meekin, John –

Of 10, Crofton Street, Atherton, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1915.

Melia, John –

Husband of Mrs. Melia, of 216, Lorne Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly Private 583, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Reported missing since 26/10/1917 and subsequently confirmed prisoner of war. A member of the Farnworth Territorials for twenty years, discharged on return from captivity with a badly injured left hand. St. Gregory’s R.C. Church, Farnworth.

Son of John and Mary Melia, of 118, Mount Street, Bolton, Lancashire; Husband of Elizabeth Melia (nee Ridyard), of 110, Mount Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 10th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Melling, Reginald S –

Husband of Mrs. Melling, of 84, Bury Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted about May 1916. Wounded when buried by a shell blast and suffered gas poisoning August 1916.

Melling, Walter –

Son of Elizabeth Melling, of King’s Head Hotel, Junction Road, Deane, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late James Melling. Enlisted January 1916. Died from gunshot wounds whilst working as a stretcher bearer in the act of rescuing some chums who were in difficulties.

Melling, Harry –

Son of Samuel and Louisa Melling, of 8, Lowther Street, Preston, Lancashire. Formerly 7586, Royal Field Artillery.

Melling, James –

Of 155, High Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Wounded in the leg when a high explosive shell landed on the parapet.
