Husband of Margaret Ellen Pinder (formerly Greenhalgh), of 10, Ernest Street, Park Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously served as a reservist with the Lancashire Fusiliers for 22 years, and served in the South African Campaign. Formerly 13/4558, Training Reserve Bn.

Caught aged 34 as an absentee from the 11th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment at Billericay, Essex since 25/07/1915, and again as an absentee from the 3rd Bn. at Felixstowe since 20/12/1916 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 03/08/1915 and 26/02/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort.
