Ranoe, Charles James –

Son of John Charles and Elizabeth Ellen Ranoe (nee Lindsay), of 14, Mount Pleasant Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly an apprentice fitter at the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company’s Horwich Loco Works. Formerly Private 1630, 1st/4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded accidentally by gunshot to right hand 11/07/1915. NOTE: Served as JAMES Ranoe.

Ratcliffe, James Willie –

Son of Martha Ratcliffe, of 36, Balmoral Road, Farnworth, Lancashire; husband of Annie Ratcliffe (nee Vaughan). Previously served as Ordinary Seaman SS/3957 (Dev.), Royal Navy, from 15/05/1912 to 22/06/1912 – purchased discharge. Employed at the Chloride Works in Clifton prior to enlistment. Wounded 21/05/1916 at Vimy Ridge, and again 10/07/1916 on the Somme and convalescent at Blackpool. Also gassed at Ypres 05/09/1917, and wounded 10/04/1918.
