Riley, John Edward –

Son of Thomas and Mary Hannah Riley (nee Mather), of 3, Sandy Bank Road, Edgworth, Turton, Lancashire. Died at the 3rd Canadian Clearing Station. Two brothers also served.

Riley, Peter –

Of 22, Boat Street, Plank Lane, Leigh, Lancashire. Enlisted September 1915.

Riley, Peter –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Riley, of 18, York Street, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Mr Riley served seven years with Gordon Highlanders, including service in Afghanistan and the South African Campaign.

Riley, Richard S –

Son of Mrs. Riley, of 12, Scholes Bank, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed at Horwich Loco Works. Enlisted August 1914. Formerly Private 1614, 1st/4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Reported wounded and missing from 08/08/1916. Subsequently confirmed prisoner of war in Saxony.

Riley, Samuel –

Son of John and Elizabeth Riley, 9, Partington Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1915. Died at Lytham Cottage Hospital from epileptic fits. Home service only.

Of 168, Warrington Road, Lower Ince, Lancashire. Enlisted February 1915.

Riley, Thomas –

Of 92, Whitegate Lane, Hollinwood, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1915.

Riley, William –

Rimmer, William –

Son of Alderman William Rimmer and Rebecca Stanley Rimmer (nee Gibbs), of “Wyndene”, New Hall Lane, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1914 as a Private in the East Lancashire Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps. Contracted enteric fever and invalided home. Returned to England December 1916 for training and commissioned 22/07/1917. Died at Langemarck.

Rimmer, Henry –

Son of Robert and Jane Rimmer. Enlisted from Cottage Farm, Keele, Staffordshire. Formerly 5867, 2nd/5th Bn., North Staffordshire Regiment; formerly 7th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Rimmer, James –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. James Rimmer, of St. Helens, Lancashire; husband of Annie Rimmer, of 4, Telford Street, Brownlow Fold, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 50, Ramwell Street, and 11, Mort Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 21 as an absentee from 3rd Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment at Felixstowe since 30/08/1915 and further as a deserter from the same date. Appeared before Bolton Magistrates 18/09/1915 and 02/10/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).
