Ripley, Levi –

Son of James and Amelia Ripley, of 68, Parliament Street, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Elizabeth Ripley (nee Thomasson), of 259, Derby Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 3992, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Reported missing since 26/08/1916 and subsequently confirmed prisoner of war at Lazarette, wounded in the head and hip. Died at Nurnberg, Bayern, Germany, following a fight with a German farmer.

Rippin, James Henry –

Son of Arthur Edward and Eliza Rippin, of 15, Chapel Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously employed as a member of the reporting staff of the Bolton Evening News & Bolton Journal and Guardian. Enlisted September 1914. Formerly Lance Corporal 2357, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded 20/06/1915 by gunshot in the right leg. Commissioned 20/12/1915. Died from pneumonia at Prees Heath Military Hospital, Whitchurch. Recorded as 4th Bn. on SDGW.

Husband of Mary Rixon (nee Coward), of 10, Ash Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Worked as a Fireman for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company.

Robbie, Robert Nelson –

Son of Robert Nelson Robbie and Isabella Robbie, of 92, Brighton Avenue, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Muriel Robbie, of 94, Brighton Avenue, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed in the composing room of the Bolton Evening News (Tillotson’). Also reported as “Neil Robbie”. His only brother was wounded in the evacuation of Gallipoli.

Son of Sarah Roberts, of 3, Dougill Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and let of 4, Shipton Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 5421, 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment; Formerly P77, 12th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Roberts, Thomas –

Son of Silas Roberts; husband of Emily Williamson (formerly Roberts), of 20, Lower Street, New Bury, Farnworth, Lancashire. Previously served with the Lancashire Fusiliers in the Boer War.
