Son of Robert and Emma Simpson (nee Bretherton), of 1, Tower Street, Turton, Lancashire. Severely wounded in the right leg and brought to East Sussex Hospital for treatment in December 1915. Posted as missing since 23/07/1916 and subsequently presumed killed.

Formerly Private 2670, 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded 09/08/1916.

Simpson, William –

Son of William and Mary Simpson, of 14, Annie Street, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire.

Simpson, Charles –

Son of John Thomas and Mary Simpson, of 47, Cemetery Road, Tonge, Bolton, Lancashire. Died at Canterbury Hospital from peritonitis following upon an operation for appendicitis. Mistakenly reported as “W Simpton” in BJ&G.

Singlehurst, Arthur Edward –

Son of T. A. and Alice Ann Singlehurst, of 54, Kay Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 38, Turton Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Wounded 15/11/1916 in the right eye and leg. Wounded at Arras and hospitalised at Warrington with dangerous wounds in both legs 01/08/1918

Son of Margaret Ellen Singleton, of 12, Norton Avenue, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late James Singleton. Reported wounded and missing since 10/04/1918 and subsequently presumed killed.

Singleton, Edward –

Son of Reuben and Amelia Singleton, of 2, Hardman’s Lane, Dunscar, Turton, Lancashire. Of Cox Green Mills, Turton, Lancashire. Missing since 30/11/1917 and subsequently presumed killed.

An orphan, he resided with Mrs. Cain, of 30, Back Cannon Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed at the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company in the Goods Department. St. John, Wingates.

Sixsmith, Fred –

Husband of Mary E. N. Sixsmith (nee Clayton), of 63, Station Road, Kearsley, Lancashire. Formerly of 79, Market Street, Little Lever, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1915.
