Son of Job and Jane Swift, of 126, Spring Gardens, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 19 as an absentee from Hursley Camp, Winchester since 24/05/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 29/05/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26) His brother, Robert was killed.
