Son of the late Peter and Margaret Wall; brother of Mrs. Anna Cooke (nee Wall), of 15, Buchanan Street, Pendleton, Lancashire. Enlisted from 3, Back Haydock Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Died at No.44 Casualty Clearing Station of abdominal wounds.

Of 2, Knight Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 1714 / 240261, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment; Sapper WR/178132, Royal Engineers; Private 291963, Welsh Regiment. Suffered slight shell wounds to head and arm in October 1915.

Of 6, Back Blackhorse Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 39 as an absentee from Billericay, Essex since 20/08/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 26/08/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).

Wallwork, John William (Jack) –

Son of Moses and Mary Wallwork, of 77, Kestor Street, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Martha Alice Wallwork (nee Green), of 75, Kestor Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 6679, 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Was to join 12th (Pioneers) Bn., in September 1915, but released to return to employment as a train guard with the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company.

Husband of Mary Wallwork, of 4, Wharton Terrace, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Previously enlisted at Salford 06/04/1915 as Private 18610, 19th Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers, and discharged 30/04/1915. Re-enlisted as Private 5434, 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Home service only.
