Anderson, John –

Son of John and Annie Anderson; brother of Catherine Hindle (nee Anderson), of 6, Bottom-o’th’-Moor, Harwood, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly served as Private 7529, 1st Bn., Connaught Rangers. Wounded in the historic retreat from Mons above and below the right knee, and later wounded in the hip and suffered gas poisoning at St. Julien and discharged July 1915. Re-enlisted on recovery and formerly Private 1503, 12th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Formerly worked at the Horwich Loco Works. Previous service in the Cheshire Royal Engineers. Formerly Sergeant 1283, 1st/4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Attached 1st King’s African Rifles. Died of Dysentery in South Africa.
