Darbyshire (Derbyshire), William Ralph –

Son of Thomas Darbyshire, of 2, Ford Place, Pendleton, Lancashire, and the late Mary Darbyshire; husband of Alice Darbyshire (nee Higson), of 39, Brierley Street, Pendleton, Lancashire. Formerly 12795, 2nd Bn., Scottish Rifles. Listed as Lancashire Fusiliers in St. Thomas’ Roll of Honour. Served as DARBYSHIRE, but surname sometimes alternatively spelt DERBYSHIRE.

Daubney, David –

Of 4, Turton Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 2235, Manchester Regiment; 6166, 4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment; 73106, Machine Gun Corps. Reported missing 30/11/1917, and reported later prisoner of war in Germany. Continued in service after the conclusion of the World War I. One of five soldier brothers.

Deakin, Wilfred –

Husband of Eliza Jane Deakin, of 253, Bolton Road, Walkden, Lancashire, and formerly of 1, Peel Street, Cleggs Lane, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Formerly a carter employed by the Little Hulton Co-Operative Society. Enlisted November 1916. Formerly Private 38938, Border Regiment. Killed instantly when carrying ammunition.

Dearden, James –

Son of Peter and Margaret Dearden, of 19, Avenue Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted in 1914. Formerly 2069, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Died as a result of being severely gassed on 22/07/1917.

Diggle, George Henry –

Son of Alfred and Mary Diggle, of 76, Hacken Lane, Darcy Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1915. Formerly 7593, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Gassed 22/07/1917 and died in a casualty clearing station.

Only surviving son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dixon. Of the Windmill Hotel, Pendlebury, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1915. Formerly Private 26294, Royal Scots.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Francis Dobbin; husband of Mrs. Dobbin, of Lower Broughton, Salford, Lancashire. Formerly 16513, Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Surname recorded as ‘DOBLIN’ on SDGW.

Dougill, Sydney –

Son of Joseph and Eliza Ann Dougill, of 24, Windermere Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 51507, Lancashire Fusiliers. Gassed in October 1918. Died of pneumonia at Trouville, France. On Roll of Honour of Chalfont Street Independent Methodist Chapel.
