Burgum, Josiah –

Son of John Dean Burgum and Mary Burgum, of 79, Lorne Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted July 1915. Attached 1st/2nd Bn., King’s African Rifles since July 1917. Killed while working a machine gun and interred at Mtama Cemetery, East Africa. Memorial in St. Michael’s Great Lever Churchyard.

Campbell, William –

Son of Thomas and Letitia Campbell; husband of Jane Ann Smedley (formerly Campbell), of 6, Foundry Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1915. Formerly 21918, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Caught aged 26 as an absentee from Belton Park, Grantham since 07/02/1916 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 10/02/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).
