Son of James and Mary E. Porter, of Wigan, Lancashire; husband of Harriet Porter, of 26, York Street, Netherfield, Nottinghamshire.

Son of Martha Porter, of 31, Rectory Road, Higher Crumpsall, Manchester, Lancashire, and the late Thomas Porter. Worked for some time at the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company’s Horwich Loco Works. Noted local cricketer and amateur international footballer.
