Hilton, Albert –

Son of Matthew and Margaret Hilton, of Bolton, Lancashire. Confectionery shopkeeper of 3, St. Helens Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly of 45, Wynne Street, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Enlisted June 1915. Served at the Wharnecliffe Military Hospital, and a time in Sicily. Killed instantaneously by a shell while attending wounded at a dressing station.

Hinds, Thomas –

Of 24, Bank Street, and formerly of 9, Water Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 37 as an absentee from Colchester since 02/06/1917 and since 14/07/1917 from No.3 Camp, Squires Gate, Blackpool. Appearing before Bolton Magistrates 04/06/1917 and also 17/07/1917, when he was also charged with assaulting Detective Sergeant Hawkins on 16/07/1917 at 9, Alice Street, Bolton. Remanded until 19/07/1917 whence the assualt charge was dropped and him sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/28).
