Of 75, Pleasant Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 27 as an absentee since 12/10/1915 and as a deserter from Lugershall, Wiltshire since 05/11/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 15/10/1915 and 10/01/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).

Son of Augustine and Mary Wolfe, of 115, Westbrook Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Rev. assistant curate at St. John’s Church, Cheetham. Enlisted January 1918.

Wolstencroft, Alfred –

Husband of Ann Wolstencroft, of 19, Lee Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Previously served six years with the Royal Garrison Artillery. Memorial in Farnworth Cemetery.

A dentist and son of Mr. Thomas W. Wood, L.D.S., dentist of Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1915. Formerly Royal Army Service Corps. Commissioned September 1916.

Previously served in the South African Campaign. Formerly Corporal 11322, 1st Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Transferred to Royal Army Service Corps 06/12/1918.

Son of Edward and Florence Woodward, of Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of the Bolton Church Institute. Formerly employed as a goods clerk for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company at Walkden.
