Briggs, George William –

Of 27, Leicester Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted August / October 1915. Formerly Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Caught aged 48 as an absentee from Ripon since 30/11/1917 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 04/12/1917 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/28).

Husband of M. Brockbank, of 51, South King Street, Manchester, Lancashire. Formerly 174696, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Interred in St. Barnabas Churchyard, Openshaw, Lancashire.

Eldest son of William Henry Brockbank and the late Eliza Brockbank, of the Three Tuns Hotel, Bridge Street, Bolton, Lancashire.

Brockhurst, F –

Husband of Mrs. Brockhurst, of 5, Gilnow Grove, Bolton, Lancashire. Called up as a reservist at the commencement of hostilities. Reported missing since 02/06/1941 and subsequently confirmed prisoner of war in Crete.

Bromiley, Sydney –

Son of William Isherwood Bromiley, M.I.Mech. E., and of Mary Bromiley, of “Beech Hurst”, 194, Chorley New Road, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Grammar School (1904). Enlisted May 1915. Killed when the Italian vessel Citta de Palermo struck a mine and sank in the Mediterranean.

Bromiley, James –

Eldest son of William Isherwood Bromiley, M.I. Mech. E., and of Mary Bromiley, of “Beech Hurst”, 194, Chorley New Road, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Gertrude Holden Bromiley, of “Oakcroft”, 70, Albert Road West, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School. Attached 391 Small Bore Ammunition Company / 391st Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed in the train in France whilst returning home on leave from Italy.

Bryce, John (Jack) –

Husband of Ethel Bryce, of 6, Olga Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Attached New Zealand Motor Transport Company, New Zealand Army Service Corps. Died at 64th Casualty Clearing Station (Cologne) from pneumonia.
