Holt, John –

Husband of Mary Holt (nee Battersby), of 77, Charles Rupert Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previous service as Private 1811 in the King’s Liverpool Regiment, enlisted 30/09/1886 and discharged time expired in 1902. Enlisted as Private 4236 at Bolton 07/09/1914 in 3rd Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, transferred to 1st Bn. and posted to France in December 1914. Contracted frostbite in both feet leading to rheumatism January 1915 at Le Havre, repatriated for treatment at Headingley, Leeds. Discharged as no longer physically fit for war service (sickness) 08/06/1915. Re-enlisted as Private 23826 in the 2nd/5th Bn., King’s Liverpool Regiment and transferred 29/04/1916 to Royal Defence Corps.
