Son of James and Amelia Ripley, of 68, Parliament Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 27 as an absentee from Corton Camp, Wiltshire since 21/06/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 25/06/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26). Died resulting from a shrapnel wound to the chest received in Salonika 22/12/1916.
