Swallow, Harold Edward –

Eldest son of Rev. John Edward and Elizabeth Swallow, minister of the United Methodist Hanover Circuit, Bolton, Lancashire.

Swarbrick, William –

Son of John and Sarah Swarbrick; husband of Mrs. Swarbrick, of 87, Oak Street, Bolton, Lancashire. A reservist, he was called up at the outbreak of war. He lost two photographs, one of his wife, and one of his brother Fred (John Frederick), on the battlefield at Ypres which were recovered by Private J. Jones of the King’s Own Scottish Borderers and returned via the BJ&G.

Caught aged 34 as an absentee from Preston since 16/01/1916 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 20/01/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).
