Fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. William Charnley, of Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Lucy Daisy May Charnley (nee Gillett). An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School. Formerly Gunner 1073, Royal Field Artillery. Served in Egypt, Gallipoli and France.

Son of Mary Jane Charnock, of 2, Cemetery Road, Tonge, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 1749, 3rd East Lancashire Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Wounded when a German aeroplane dropped a bomb on a casualty clearing station in August 1916. Gunshot wound to right chest.
