Curran, Peter –

Of 70, Spring Gardens, Bolton, Lancashire. Arrested as a deserter from the Royal Field Artillery at Preston since November 1916, and was due to appear before Bolton Magistrates on 01/02/1917 but was found that morning with wounds to his throat caused by a large safety pin. The case was discharged due to medical evidence of him being of unsound mind. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/27).

Husband of Mrs. Curwell, of 6, Middlefell Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Previously worked for two years as a police constable at Mossley, near Oldham.

Of 25, Nugent Street, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 21, Pennington Road, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Police Constable 177 of the Bolton County Borough Police since 20/01/1910 until his enlistment for War Service. (Bolton Archives: ABJ/22/178). Returned to the Police Force 23/01/1919.

Formerly Gunner 3000, Royal Field Artillery. Recorded as John Henry Daley and also under both numbers on SDGW and on one entry as having died 14/05/1917.

Dandy, Walter –

Husband of Mary Ann Dandy, of 16, Moore Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted May 1915. A bursting shrapnel shell caused him a fractured right knee and wounds in the left thigh, left arm, and over his right eye in November 1917.
