Son of Robert and Jane Mottershead, of 177, Darwen Road, Bromley Cross, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly employed in the grocery department of Eagley Co-Operative Society. Enlisted March 1916. Formerly Gunner 5080 / 851305 (TF), Royal Field Artillery. Reported wounded by gunshot and dangerously ill at No.46 Casualty Clearing Station in France in September 1917.
