Of 48, Musgrave Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 26 – 30 as an absentee from Winchester since 27/06/1915 and from Woolwich since 15/11/1918 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 05/07/1915 and 26/11/1918 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26 & JBO/1/29).

Son of Mr. and Mrs. William Newby; husband of Alice A. Newby, of 8, Brindle Heath Road, Pendleton, Lancashire.

Nicholson, John –

Son of Peter and Mary Emma Nicholson, of 252, Manchester Road East, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1915. Attached Royal Garrison Artillery.

Nield, Charles Henry –

Husband of Rachel Nield, of 176, Lee Avenue, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 45, Howcroft Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Sergeant 17, formerly Police Constable 89 of the Bolton County Borough Police, having joined the force 12/01/1906. (Bolton Archives: ABJ/22/139). A brother also served. Killed by the bursting of a high-explosive shell. Previous service in the South African and Crete Campaigns. Service number recorded as 2381 on CWGC.

Son of Mrs. Betsy Noon, of 91, Clarendon Street, Bolton Lancashire; husband of Mrs. Noon, of 21, Pitt Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Brother of Lance Corporal Fred Noon. Enlisted December 1914 in the Sherwood Forresters. Previously served with the Royal Garrison Artillery.
