Son of Claud Pierrepont, dental surgeon of Bromley Cross, Turton, Lancashire, and formerly of St. George’s Road, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late Caroline (Carrie) Pierrepont (nee Ward); husband of Elizabeth Alice Pierrepont (nee Disley), of 13, Lilly Street, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School. Enlisted in 1914 as Gunner 1313 in the Bolton Artillery. Commissioned 28/01/1916, following promotion to Sergeant on 06/01/1916. Reported missing and believed drowned.

Pilkington, Charles Edward –

Son of Robert and Mary Ellen Pilkington (nee Flitcroft); brother of Mrs. Pilling, of 68, Dawes Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Of 15, Brown Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1915.

Pilkington, Richard –

Of 25, Croasdale Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 23 as an absentee from Southport since 25/01/1915 and appeared before Bolton Magistrates 26/01/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/25).

Pilkington, William –

Only son of Alfred B. and Ellen Pilkington, of 36, Sandwich Street, Walkden, Lancashire. Enlisted May 1915. Killed by a shell splinter whilst asleep.

Pilling, George Frederick –

Son of Edwin Pilling, of 152, Thicketford Road, Tonge, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of the Bolton Grammar School (1906-1909). Formerly Private 2508, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Commissioned 1915, Second Lieutenant, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Pilling, Giles –

Eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Pilling, of 21, Belle Vue Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915.

Pinch, Bertie –

Son of Thomas and Ellen Pinch, of Dent, Yorkshire; husband of Joanna Pinch (nee Jost), of Weaving Terrace, Dent, Yorkshire, and formerly of 2, Latham Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously a tram conductor in Bolton. Served as Police Constable 86 of the Bolton County Borough Police from 07/08/1913 until enlistment for military service. (Bolton Archives: ABJ/22/225). Killed by a shell splinter. His brother Vincent, of Dent, Yorkshire, served as Gunner 74415, Royal Garrison Artillery and survived.

Son of Mrs. Mary Pinkerton, of 249, Church Street, Westhoughton, Lancashire. Formerly employed by the Westhoughton Coal and Cannel Company. Reported as PINDERTON in BC.

Plant, Albert –

Son of Samuel Plant, of Mount Pleasant, Partington, Cheshire; husband of Sarah Amy Plant (nee Bleasdale), of, Partington Road, Carrington, Cheshire. Appointed acting Lance Bombardier (unpaid) 08/06/1918. Possible death, March quarter 1925, registered at Sale, aged 34 years.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Platt, of 157, Belmont Road, Sharples, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted 1914. Two brothers also served with the Colours.

Platt, Bridgeman –

Son of the late Mrs. Platt, of 76, Bull Lane, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Emma Platt (nee Kilshaw), of 20, Venture Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previous service as Corporal 1323, 3rd East Lancashire Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, enlisted 10/07/1899, and re-enlisted repeatedly in the Territorial Force as Corporal 114, until discharged as time-expired 15 August 1914.
