Picken, William Houghton –

Son of William and Mary Jane Picken (nee Houghton), of Hazlemere, Sherbourne Road, Heaton, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Grammar School. Enlisted June 1915. A signaller and telegraphist, was in July 1917 sent a letter of commendation by the Brigadier-General of Heavy Artillery of the 2nd ANZACs for repairing damaged wires under heavy fire.

Pickford, James Henderson –

Son of Dr. James Shaw Pickford, medical officer to the Little Lever District Council, and of Florence Pickford, of Sunny Bank, Little Lever, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Grammar School. Formerly Bombardier 69159, 126 Seige Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Wounded by a shell in the right arm and hospitalised in France September 1916. Commissioned 26/03/1917.

Of 118, Church Road, Westhoughton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1915. Wounded by gunshot in the back.

Pritchard, Walter –

Of 24, Navigation Street, Leigh, Lancashire. Caught aged 25 as an absentee from Belgium since 26/10/1917 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 11/01/1918 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/29).

Third son of the late John James Rawsthorne, of Mayor Street, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Mrs Rawsthorn, of 37, Hawthorne Road, Deane, Bolton, Lancashire. Of Manchester, Lancashire. An old boy of the Bolton School. Formerly Private from enlistment and subsequently commissioned.
