Warren, William (Bill) –

Son of John Warren, gardener of Garden Cottage, Children’s Home, Crowthorn, Edgworth, Turton, Lancashire, and Mary Warren (nee Marsh). Wounded in the left thigh 25/06/1917. Captured prisoner of war following a gas attack 21/03/1918 and held at Chemnitz.

Waters, Reggie –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Waters, of Ashton Street, Little Lever, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1915, “Group System”.

Waters, Harry –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Waters, of 24, Ashton Street, Little Lever, Lancashire. A cornet player, and deputy bandmaster of the Little Lever Salvation Army Band. Enlisted November 1915, “Group System”. Reported missing 21/03/1918 and subsequently confirmed prisoner of war.

Weale, Percy James –

Husband of Venus Weale (nee Cox) of 33, Ivy Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Wounded by shrapnel in the thigh and a patient at Merryflats Hospital, Govan, Glasgow in October 1917.

Whitehead, William Lawson –

Son of Dionysius and Elizabeth Whitehead (nee Barlow), or Horwich, Lancashire; husband of Beatrice Ellen Whitehead (nee Kay), of The Cottage, Entwistle, Lancashire. Previous service with 1st Cheshire Royal Engineers Volunteers. Home service only. Served as an anti-gas instructor at Lydd.

Husband of Mrs. Whittaker, of 17, Lonsdale Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Died in a base hospital from bronchial pneumonia.
