Son of Frederick and Elizabeth E. Bentley, of Egerton, Turton, Lancashire; husband of Alice Bentley, of 19, Water Street, Egerton, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly employed by Messrs. Tillotson and Son, Ltd., as a despatch clerk. Killed by a shell bursting on his dugout at Longueval.

Son of William and Mary Birchall, of Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Gladys Birchall, of 12, Turner Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 10, Chester Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previous service in West Africa.

Bithell, Idwal –

Son of William and Jane Bithell, of 49, Edward Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Wounded by gunshot in left shoulder. Died aged 31 years in October 1925 and interred in Farnworth Cemetery 02/11/1925.

Blackburn, Richard –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Blackburn, of 21, Gower Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Wounded by shell fragments in his knee 04/05/1917 and returned to hospital in Guildford, Surrey. Suffered septic poisoning resulting in amputation of the limb.

Husband of Ada Bolton, of 296, Crescent Road, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlistment November 1915, “Group System”. Mortally wounded 07/08/1917.

Brother of the late Josepth Booth, of 26, Piggott Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Of 5, Cole Street, New Bury, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1915. Killed by the bursting of a shell.

Booth, Peter –

Husband of Maria Booth, of 139, Darley Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught as an absentee from Gosport since 11/09/1916 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 05/10/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/27).
