Son of Alfred and Edna W. Abbott, of Horwich, Lancashire. Killed with 124 crew when the HMS Duchess was in a collision in fog at Mull of Kintyre and exploded while escorting HMS Barham back from Malta.

Son of James and Sarah Ainscough; husband of Lib Ainscough, of Higher Irlam, Lancashire.

Aldcroft, Thomas Alfred –

Of 40, Thwaites Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly K21658, served as Stoker First Class on HMS London and HMS Vivid. Caught aged 23 as an absentee from Invergordon since 24/12/1917 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 31/12/1917, adjourned to 03/01/1918 to be sent back to his ship under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/29). Awarded Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (10238) 12/09/1929.

Son of Henry and Rebecca Allan, of 154, Chorley New Road, Horwich, Lancashire. Body not recovered for burial. A member of the Spa Road Hebrew Congregation.

Ashton, Jack –

Son of Samuel Ashton, of 1, Ash Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire.

Atkinson, Robert –

Son of Herbert and Mary Atkinson; husband of Maggie Atkinson, of Horwich, Lancashire, and formerly of 14, King Street, Westhoughton, Lancashire. Killed whilst prisoner of war abaord the Japanese ship Lisbon Mari when it was sunk in Far Eastern waters.

Baber, Frank –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Mary Ann Baber, of 8, Gledhill Street, Smith Street, Salford, Lancashire. Body not recovered for burial.
