Chadwick, Hammond –

Son of Walter H. and Mary Chadwick, of 17, Shurmer Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1915. Formerly 27499, 3rd & 15th Bn., Cheshire Regiment. Caught as an absentee from the Cheshire Regiment at Birkenhead and from the Welsh Regiment. Appeared before Bolton Magistrates both times to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/27 & JBO/1/28). Formerly 31019, 8th Bn., South Lancashire Regiment. Attached 26th Company, Royal Engineers. Prisoner of war at Cassel, Germany.

Chadwick, Albert –

Son of Richard and Mary A. Chadwick, of 9, Foundry Square, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly worked as a vendor for the Bolton Evening News. Enlisted June 1915. Previously enlisted aged 16 in September 1914 into the Royal Army Medical Corps, and discharged after 9 months training on account of his age. Re-enlisted and joined the Welsh Regiment. Reported missing since 10/07/1916 and subsequently presumed killed.
