Caught aged 52 as an absentee from Whitley Bay since 19/06/1917 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 16/07/1917 for this and also assaults on 12/07/1917 on Detective Sergeant Butler and Detective Harrison. Adjourned until 17/07/1917 when the assault charges were dropped and him sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/28).

Of 8, Devonshire Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 25 as a deserter from Halton Park Camp since 08/05/1915 and appeared before Bolton Magistrates 03/08/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).
