Wray, Edmund –

Son of the late Robert Wray, of 17, Forge Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 5656, 4th/5th Bn and 3rd Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Caught aged 23-25 as a deserter / absentee multiple times appearing before Bolton Magistrates to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archvies: JBO/1/29 & JBO/1/30).

Of Spring Cottage, Belmont, Lancashire. Enlisted 1915 aged 16. Twice wounded. Reported missing 21/03/1918 and confirmed prisoner of war in Germany.

Wray, John Thomas –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Wray, of 61, Dorning Street, Swinton, Lancashire; husband of Sarah E. Wray, of 16, Dawson Street, Pendlebury, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915. One of six soldier brothers.

Husband of Alice Wrench, of 112, Blackledge Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 6377, 12th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Wrigglesworth, James –

Husband of Katherine Wrigglesworth (nee Smith), of Matlock and lately of Bromley Cross, Turton, Lancashire. Married at Walmsley Chapel, August 1915. Formerly of the London Police Force. Suffered a shattered arm at other wounds at Neuve Chapelle 11/03/1915 and treated at the Blair Hospital.

NOTE:- Served as John FRANCES. Son of Frances Wright, of 41, Oak Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Of Bank Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted March 1915. Marked as deserted and rejoined on Medal Card. Also commemorated on Face 2 of the Kirkee 1914-1918 Memorial, in India. Surname recorded as FRANCIS on CWGC.
