Baron, Joseph –

Son of John Baron, of 6, Noble Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly a railway porter. Enlisted aged 21 years and 4 months for the Royal Field Artillery, but transferred to King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. Served in India, Malta, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Bunney, Alexander –

Of Walshaw, Bury, Lancashire. A United States Air Force A-10 ‘Warthog’ tank-buster aircraft attacked two Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicles of the 4th Armoured Brigade killing nine of the British troops inside including 7 Fusiliers, in an incident of ‘friendly fire’.

Clarkson, George –

Husband of Mary Alice Clarkson (nee Cordin), of 102, Albert Road, Farnworth, Lancashire. A skilled marksman, he had a long association with the Farnworth company of the Volunteer Battalion of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Died 07/10/1917 aged 57, and interred 11/10/1917 in New Bury (St. James) Churchyard with military honours.

Cowburn, John –

Son of Ellen Cowburn, of 4, Penny Street, Pendleton, Lancashire. Territorial service with 4th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers.

Cross, Philip Arthur –

One of two soldiers killed by a bomb at Musgrave Park Hospital, South Belfast. Interred at Agecroft Cemetery, Salford.

Crouch, Jack –

Son of Hilda Crouch, of Belmont Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Wounded by gunshot in the face aged 22 while on patrol in the Springfield Road area of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
