An Old Boy of Bolton Grammar School (1872). Enlisted 26/11/1914 at Bolton as Private S/4/035529, Royal Army Service Corps, and discharged 16/12/1914 as not likely to become an efficient soldier. Reenlisted January 1915 in Royal Army Veterinary Corps. Died at sea in the Dardanelles from enteric fever / dysentery.
Sinker, Herbert –
Eldest son of William Henry and Mary Ann Sinker, of 386, Halliwell Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Served 17 years in the Army, including the South African Campaign. Captured prisoner of war at Mons and held at Sennelager bei Paderborn, Germany. Died as a result of bronchitis and heart trouble whilst a prisoner.
