Son of James and Sarah Alice Warburton, of 103, Manchester Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 35441, King’s Liverpool Regiment. Caught as an absentee as Private 4667 from 2nd/7th Bn., Royal Welsh Fusiliers at Bedford since 21/08/1916 and aged 27 as Private 54119 from 3rd Bn., Royal Welsh Fusiliers at Litherland since 02/06/1917 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 24/08/1916 and 11/06/1917 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/27 & JBO/1/28). 16th Bn. at time of death.

Of Hertherleigh, Sharples, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Grammar School (1898-1902). Enlisted as Private. Commissioned. Wounded in the foot August 1916.

Son of Thomas Hartley and Sophia Ward, of Stalybridge, Cheshire. Formerly of Crescent Road, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted March 1915. Served over three years in the Field Ambulance. Attached “D” Battery, 122nd Brigade., Royal Field Artillery.

Ward, William Ernest –

Eldest son of Arthur Edward and Ellen M. G. Ward, of 82, Derby Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted as a private in the King’s Liverpool Regiment. Commissioned second lieutenant and gazetted to the South Lancashire Regiment. Wounded by gunshot in the chest, left arm and right hand August 1916. His younger brother served in the Bolton Artillery in Egypt.

Wareing, Paul Taylor –

Of 72, Viking Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1914. Fought at the battles of Hooge and La Bassee, before falling at the Loos battle. Surname reported as WARING in BJ&G.

Waring, Francis –

Son of Margaret Ellen Norris (formerly Waring), of 17, Raphael Street, Brownlow Fold, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late John William Waring. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Body not recovered for burial.
