Formerly an employee of the Worsley Road branch of the Walkden Co-Operative Society as assistant grocery manager. Enlisted Feburary 1916. Reported wounded and missing since 18/08/1916 and subsequently presumed to have been killed.

Barnes, William –

Husband of Mrs. Barnes, of 83, Albert Road, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915. Was gassed two nights in succession in July 1915 and recovered after treatment in a Canadian field hospital. Memorial in Farnworth Cemetery.
