Barker, Harold –

Youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Barker, of Commerce House, Lee Lane, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly Second Lieutenant, 9th Bn., East Yorkshire Regiment. Previously in the French Foreign Legion in France for 17 weeks since the outbreak of war. Appointed officer commanding “B” Flight at Upavon in the Royal Flying Corps.

Younger of two soldiers sons of Mrs. E. Barlow, of 35, Waldeck Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 62, Queensgate, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Oxford Grove Council School.

Barton, James –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Barton, of 14, Factory Hill, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed in the paint shop of Horwich Loco Works. Enlisted January 1916.

Baugh, Elijah –

Son of Isaiah and Ellen Elizabeth Baugh, of 38, Catherine Street East, Horwich, Lancashire. Died aged 37 in Oct-Dec 1925 at Horwich.

Bennett, Albert –

Only son of Frank and Anna Bennett, of 17, Knowsley Grove, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed at Horwich Loco Works. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade.

Son of Joshua and Annie Bennett (nee Whittle), of 72, Brook Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire.

Bentham, John –

Of 6, Abernethy Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed as a fireman at the Horwich Loco Works. Formerly Private 278, 1st/4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded 15/06/1915 at Festubert. Died from influenza whilst prisoner of war.

Bibby, William –

Of 18, Fairbairn Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Wounded by gunshot 16/07/1916 in the shoulder and face, and 07/06/1917 in the hip and right shoulder.

Son of Whitworth and Sarah Ann Billington, of “Tilia”, Dodds Bank, Shavington, Crewe, Cheshire, and formerly of 11, Victoria Road, Horwich, Lancashire. An old boy of Rivington and Blackrod Grammar School. B.Sc.(Man.) Killed by the explosion of a shell.

Son of James and Ellen Birchall, of 21, Higher Barn, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed as a stoker by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company at Newton Heath. Buried at sea. Served as Theodore Procter.
