Smith, David William Parker –

Husband of Eliza Rebecca Smith, of 3, Tomlinson Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly a boiler-maker at Horwich Loco Works. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade.

Speakman, George –

Son of Joseph Speakman, of Parker Street, Chorley, Lancashire; husband of Ellen Speakman, of 2, Mill Street, Chorley, Lancashire.

Stokes, Edwin Arthur –

Son of Charles and Fanny Stokes, of 80, Wright Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed as a clerk at Horwich Loco Works. Enlisted February 1916.

Stones, Robert James –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stones, of 298, Victoria Road, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed as a draughtsman at Horwich Loco Works. Reported as missing since 15/06/1916 and subsequently presumed killed. Surname reported as STONE in BJ&G.

Taylor, Vernon Ashworth –

Son of John Taylor, of 1, Knowsley Grove, Chorley New Road, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed as a Fitter by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company at Horwich Loco Works. Formerly Private 1629, 4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Reported wounded and missing 26/10/1917 and subsequently presumed killed.

Taylor, Edwin –

Husband of Ellen Taylor, of 19, Wright Street, Horwich, and formerly of 1, Bosworth Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Previously employed as a night watchman by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Company at Horwich Loco Works. Previous service in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, including the South African campaign. Died at home following an attack of pneumonia.

Tickle, Richard –

Son of Richard and Sarah Ellen Tickle (nee Derbyshire), of 23, Barlow Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed at Horwich Loco Works. Enlisted August 1914. Died at Netley Hospital as the result of a gunshot wound received in action at the Dardanelles. The wound in the elbow necessitated amputation of the arm.

Son of John and Elizabeth Walkden, of Blackrod, Lancashire; husband of Florence Walkden (nee Bath), of 19, Autumn Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Death presumed on or since 18/07/1916.

Walsh, Benjamin –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Walsh, of 15, Duncan Street (Hankin Street?), Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly an employee of the Horwich Loco Works. Died from the effects of heat in Mesopotamia.

Whitelegg, Norman –

Son of Thomas Henry and Annie Whitelegg, of 39, Rowena Street, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted May 1915. Formerly 2215, 16th Bn., Middlesex Regiment.

Whittle, Thomas –

Son of Ralph and Annie F. Whittle, of 81, Lee Lane, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed at Horwich Loco Works. Brother James prisoner of war, and father also served.

Wilson, George William –

Son of John and Eliza Wilson; husband of Alice Wilson, of 26, Philip Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly of 59, Cooper Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Served in the South African Campaign. Formerly employed at the Horwich Loco Works.
