Son of Peter and Nancy Heywood, of 20, Breightmet Fold, Breightmet, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted March 1915. Second son to fall in the War.

Hill, Edward Blackburn –

Son of Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Hill, of 39, Burnham Avenue, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 10, Grundy Row, Smithills, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted aged 16. Killed by a machine gun bullet at Poelcapelle.

Hoare, Alan Brodie –

Younest son of the late Edward Brodie Hoare and of Katharine Hoare; husband of Audrey Lois Hoare (nee Collier), of 64, Napier Court, Hurlingham, London. Of 98, Thicketford Road, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Bleacher’s Association Limited, he was associated with the management of the Firwood Bleachworks and Dunscar Bleachworks. Commissioned 07/12/1914.

Son of Ernest Albert and Mary Ellen Hodges, of Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Alice Hodges (nee Ackers), of 8, Mooney Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 65, Division Street, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Mobilised for service 12/02/1917 as Private 7056, 1st/4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Formerly Private 235096, 3rd/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Reported missing since 03/06/1917 and subsequently on 20/03/1918 presumed killed.

Husband of Mrs. Holt, of the Gate House, Blackburn Road, Eagley Bank, Turton, Lancashire. Enlisted May 1915. Seriously gassed on 11/03/1917 and succumbed two days later.

Hopkinson, William –

Son of Mary Ann Hopkinson, of 4, Spring Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly 1st/4th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Severely wounded 10/01/1917 in a raid on German trenches at Ypres, and died of these wounds at 13th General Hospital, France.
