Youngest son of Joseph and Susanah Kirk (nee Hamer), of 113, Brandwood Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted June 1915.

Knowles, John William –

Husband of Mrs. Knowles, of 49, Bright Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly of 16, Red Street, Atherton, Lancashire. Posted as missing and subsequebtly presumed killed.

Lancaster, William Henry –

Son of George Henry Lancaster, of 78, Daisy Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late Charlotte Lancaster (formerly Jones nee Ainsworth). Formerly of 4, Blackwood Street, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire.

Lang, Thomas –

Eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Lang, of 85, Venice Street, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Mrs. Lang, of 37, Back Commission Street, Bolton, Lancashire.

Leatherbarrow, Fred –

Son of Thomas and Mary Ann Leatherbarrow, of 49, Alexandra Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed in the Corporation Weights and Measures Office, Coronation Street, Bolton, Lancashire. One of five soldier sons.

Lee, Henry –

Son of James and Mary Lee, of 70A, St. Helens Road, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of Derby View, Derby Street, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School.

Leyland, Herbert B –

Son of Mrs. Elizabeth Alice Leyland, of 13, Sunning Hill Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915.

Lievesley, Albert Edward –

Son of Thomas and Mary Alice Lievesley, of 86, Church Avenue, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed by the London and North Western Railway Company as a Improver to Joiner in the Permanent Way Department at Edge Hill, Liverpool. Enlisted December 1914. Killed when a shell burst in his billet.

Lindley, Charles –

Son of Charles and Mary Lindley, of 2, Hooton Street, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Enlisted aged 16 in November 1915. Survived the torpedoing of the troopship Arcadian. Attached 3rd/57th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed when a shell burst in his dug-out in Italy.

Lindow, Arthur –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Lindow, of 63, Croston Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1915. Killed by a shell.

Livesey, Harry –

Son of Mrs. Livesey, of 184, Rishton Lane, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 137, High Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted December 1914. Caught aged 19 as an absentee from Shoeburyness since 12/01/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 19/01/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/25). Posted missing since 01/07/1916 and subsequently presumed killed.

Livesey, Peter –

Son of Mrs. Livesey, of 19, Rosebery Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted May 1916. Died at the Southern Hospital, Oxford.

Lofthouse, Harold –

Son of Arthur and Mary Alice Lofthouse, of 23, Rosamond Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Killed by the accidental explosion of a rifle grenade.

Longworth, John –
