Battersby, Walter –

Son of Andrew and Lydia Battersby, of 6, Antelope Street, Kearsley, Lancashire; husband of Mrs. Battersby, of 1, Rutter Street, Kearsley, Lancashire. Joined up November 1917. Died of wounds in a casualty clearing station in France, having been severely wounded in the legs.

Coope, Arthur Reginald –

Second son of the late John Tonge Coope and Ellen Coope, of 28, Balmoral Road, South Shore, Blackpool, Lancashire, and formerly of 412, Bolton Road, Kearsley, Lancashire. Enlisted March 1917. Wounded and taken prisoner 24/03/1918, and died whilst prisoner of war in Germany. Memorial in Kearsley (St. Stephen) Churchyard. Reported as Corporal in F&WJ.

Entwistle, James Henry –

Son of William and Martha Ellen Entwistle, of 321, Manchester Road, Kearsley, Lancashire. Enlisted from his brother’s address at 6, Entwistle Street, Swinton, Lancashire. Taken prisoner of war 23/04/1917 and in hospital suffering from fever and rheumatism. Died from inflammation of the kidneys.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Robert Hardman, of 28, Manchester Road, Kearsley, Lancashire; husband of Louisa Hardman, of 423, Bolton Road, Kearsley, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915. Took ill shortly after marriage ceremony whilst on special leave and died from pneumonia.
