Previously enlisted at Bolton on 13/10/1914 as Private 2798, 2nd/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment and discharged no longer physically fit 12/05/1915. Re-enlisted for Royal Army Medical Corps being a member of the St. John Ambulance Brigade.
