Eldest son of John Walter and Ann Ellen Crompton, of 251, Deane Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted May 1915. Attached 55th Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps. Wounded by gunshot to the head with compound fracture of the skull 25/01/1917, and died at Salford Royal Hospital.
