Crook, William –

Son of James and Elizabeth Crook, of 7, Irma Street, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Whilst serving guarding the railway line at Mangotsfield, Gloucestershire, William accidentally killed his brother Matthew, when a rifle William was handling discharged accidentally. One of two female friends being entertained by the brothers at the time was also wounded. He was tried at the Gloucester Assizes for manslaughter but found not guilty and the case dismissed.
